Classroom Education

We at the HSSC understand that to create excellent pet parents we must start early.  The HSSC offers a FREE service to Stanislaus County Schools.  We will come to your classroom or assembly and offer an engaging event where children and young adults can learn about animal care, animal issues, and responsible pet ownership.

Fill out the form at the bottom of the page if you're interested in having us come to your classroom, assembly, club event, or public event to speak and share.

Kindergarten - 4th Grade

This program is a simple yet engaging program where we have the students become involved in the educational program.

Topics Covered
  • Proper way to care for a pet
  • Basic pet nutrition (what is ok to give a pet, and what's not)
  • How to approach an animal
  • Pet exercise and human exercise
5th Grade - 8th Grade

This program is a bit more advanced covering the same topics above in more detail, oriented to older children and how they can affect outcomes on a daily basis of animal care.

High School and Up

In this program we get more in depth with the above topics.  We will also address animal issues in our community, ways to they can help, how the HSSC works, what we do, programs available, and many more topics.  Additionally the teacher or professor may request a special topic for us to cover.

Ag Clubs or Classes

In this type of program we will discuss how the HSSC affects more farming animals and how we are involved (or not involved) in specific legislation for ag care.  Additionally we will discuss the differences between care (in the steps of the HSSC) of ag animals vs. domestic animals.
