2010 Annual Membership Meeting

The Humane Society of Stanislaus County will hold their 2010 Annual Membership Meeting on Sunday October 17th at our corporate office. The meeting will begin promptly at 1pm.

Refreshments will be served as well as door prizes for the first 20 members in current standing.

Members who bring a "friend" to join that day will be entered into a drawing.

Stanislaus County Cat Conference!!!

On Sept 7th, Stanislaus County will hold a "Cat Confence". It will be held at AG Center at 6:00. AG Center is at Crowslanding Road and Service.

There will public comment section. They will discuss their plan for the cats in this valley. They are looking at what San Jose is doing , that is working for that area and demographic.

The Humane Society has been asked to get as many volunteers and members to attend as possible to show our support for CAT programs that work in our Community!

Please put on your calendar to attend this significant discussion for the future of the cats in Stanislaus County. Let your voice speak for those who have no voice...

Play Poker, Save The Dogs!

Charity Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament!
Modesto Centre Plaza, 1000 L Street, Modesto

$40 buy-in, check-in at 5 pm, tournament starts at 6 pm.
All proceeds go to help the dogs, of course!

If you still wish to help but don't wish to play poker, we are looking for donations and sponsors who can help make this event a success! We need non-cash prizes for the winners, and items for our raffle, anything from gift cards to free local services to HDTVs! Galaxy Theatre-Riverbank Cats N Dogs-Revenge of Kitty Galore!

Yesterday we were invited to have an infomation table at the Galaxy Theatre in Riverbank. Volunteers received $170 in donations. It was one of our youngest volunteers, Britnie that got over $100 in donations because she asked everyone that came in the doors of the theater if they would please help save dogs and cats of Stanislaus County.

Several of the donors commented that they were impressed with Britnie and that she should get a commission. Just goes to show that our young volunteers make such a huge difference!

Galaxy donated 6 movie tickets and allowed all the volunteers to stay and watch Cats n Dogs for free! Many thanks to Galaxy for allowing us the opportunity to help cats & dogs.

The HSSC is recruiting for the following positions. All positions are VOLUNTEER.

- Board Member/Officer: SECRETARY. This is a board level position. This position requires significant time commitment. If you are interested in applying for this position, please email aelkins@humanestanislaus.org for information and a job description.

- Office worker: SECRETARY/Office Manager. This is a volunteer position. This position requires medium time commitment. This position will oversee operations of the HSSC Corporate office and will report to the President. If you are interested in applying for this position, please email aelkins@humanestanislaus.org for information and a job description.

- Office worker: ADMIN. There are 3 open positions. This is a volunteer position. This position requires medium time commitment. This position will operate the office on one of three open days. Monday, Tuesday and Saturday. The hours of operation are 11am-1pm. This position will report to the SECRETARY/Office Manager. Please email aelkins@humanestanislaus.org for more information and a job description.

- Home Volunteer: SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER. This is a volunteer position. This position requires minor time commitment. This position will oversee operations of the HSSC Social Media Websites (facebook, myspace, twitter, flickr, etc.) This position sets his/her own schedule and reports to the SECRETARY/Office Manager. - Office worker: HISTORIAN. This is a volunteer position. This position requires medium time commitment. This position will document (via photography and video) the activities of the HSSC, including events, meetings, etc. This position reports to the BOARD SECRETARY. - Office worker: VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR. This is a volunteer position. This position requires significant time commitment. This position will coordinate all efforts regarding volunteer recruitment, training and retention. This position reports to the Board Chair of Community Education. Here is the update our Shelter Challenge status so here are the results from today's voting! We are at 3687 overall, and in California we are 301, we are moving closer to the top but ever so slowly. Please take the time to vote--every single vote counts and as the other organizations slowly drop... off it's our chance to move to the TOP! Soliciting Fund Raising Ideas

Spay & Neuter Recycle

Foster Homes Needed

The HSSC is in need of a few new foster homes. We currently are having to board a dog and would like to get it into a foster. Additionally we are looking for some people to take some kittens in as fosters. If you're interested please email us.
